GARCONS et filles from Hatherleigh School enjoyed a French day to celebrate Bastille Day last week.

All the children and staff dressed up 'French-style' or in the colours of the French flag and there were prizes for the best dressed pupil from each key stage. The winners were Jack from KS1 and Michael from KS2.

During the day the children enjoyed a French breakfast of croissants, brioche and hot chocolate. They made crepes, did cheese tasting, played boules, learnt French songs and stories and copied the work of famous French artists.

The kitchen staff at the school laid on a special French menu for lunch.

The food was all donated by Waitrose in Okehampton and the school said they would like to thank the store for their generosity.
