CHERITON Bishop was bestowed with the honour of being recognised as the Best Kept Large Village in Devon at a ceremony last week.

Residents gathered at the village?s Methodist Church to witness Sir Ian Amory, president of the Devon Campaign for the Protection of Rural England, present a shield and sign to the village in recognition of its achievement.

Cheriton Bishop beat 20 other hopefuls in its category for villages with populations between 500 and 2,000. The competition is run each year by the CPRE.
