RESIDENTS of East Cornwall packed into Albaston?s Queen?s Head pub on Saturday to enjoy the village fête?s presentation night.

The proceedings were conducted by committee chairman Richard Taylor who expressed his delight that the fête had been a huge success in every way with perfect weather, plenty of attractions and an enormous crowd.

He said that, thanks to everybody?s support, he was able to distribute £2,500 among this year?s beneficiaries.

Cheques were presented to seven local organisations; Tamar Valley Scout Hut fund, Southwest Equine Protection, Calstock Unicycle Club, Tavy and Tamar Gig Club, Delaware School PTA, Gunnislake Cricket Club and Albaston?s Millennium Green.

Representatives from each organisation said a few words about how the money would be spent.

Before the evening finished a number of contributors were presented with commemorative brass ?thank you? plaques, including the Queen?s Head landlord, Graham Ford.
