A BEAUTIFUL painting worth £10,000, donated anonymously, will go under the auctioneer's hammer in Tavistock next week.

The sale of the 'Family of Cheetahs' picture by well-known West Country artist David Scott will raise money for a Devon charity which helps vulnerable street children surviving in Ethiopia.

The 40 in square acrylic on board painting is to be auctioned by Robin A Fenner at 11am on Monday, October 27.

The painting will realise much needed cash for the Plymouth-based Ethiopia Link charity, which supports orphaned and abandoned children, providing them with accommodation, food, clothing, medical care and education.

A trustee for Ethiopia Link said the charity hoped to open a new children's home in Addis Ababa with the money.

He said the charity was very grateful to the Art Frame Gallery in Tavistock's Duke Street, which had displayed the painting and provided advice about its sale.
