VOTERS in next month?s Tavistock Town Council by-election are being asked to take a close look at their polling cards as the vote is taking place at two different polling stations on the day. The election, on Thursday May 18, is to fill the Tavistock South Ward seat, which became vacant following the death of Cllr Betty Batchelor in February. At the request of Tavistock Town Council, the town?s South Ward register of voters has been split between two polling stations - the new village hall at Whitchurch and Tavistock Parish Church Centre. Voters are asked to take a close look at their polling card before voting to ensure they go along to the correct polling station. There are two candidates standing for the seat. They are Philip Richard Sanders, a Conservative, of Peryn Road, Tavistock and Alex Wood, a Liberal Democrat, of Kilworthy Hill, Tavistock. The polling station will be open from 7am and the poll will close at 10pm.
