FOOTBALL fans at West Devon Homes and the borough council paid handsomely to don their favourite team strips last week to try and slip one past their bosses.
In a penalty shoot out competition between the two organisations last Friday the housing association romped home, putting eight goals past West Devon Borough Council deputy chief executive David Inman.
In return the council officers beat West Devon Homes chief executive Stuart Davies five times.
The event, one of several organised throughout the day, was designed to raise money for 'Strip 4 Shelter' — a national fundraising initiative organised by the housing charity Shelter.
Alison Morgan, Housing Services Manager and council team captain, said: 'We were disappointed to lose the penalty shoot out competition against West Devon Homes, but everyone enjoyed themselves on the day. The total amount of money raised for Shelter by both organisations was tremendous and I'd like to thank everyone who took part for their support.'
The real winner on the day was Shelter which will receive £315 from the fund-raising events.
WDH chief executive Mr Davies said: 'We are over the moon to have raised that amount in a single day.'
