TAVISTOCK'S Wharf was festively lit when the NSPCC Christmas tree lights were switched on last Wednesday.
The NSPCC hosted a coffee morning and raffle to accompany the switch-on, which was organised by Priscilla Gillett the NSPCC chairman of the Tavistock district, to raise money for various services within the charity.
The Christmas tree, which was supplied by Graham of Tavistock Pannier Market, was decorated with tinsel and baubles that were donated by the Focus DIY store in Tavistock.
Local individuals and businesses sponsor a bauble and all the money raised is spent locally. The main areas that will receive the money are the Devon Child Protection Services, Child Witness Support and the Child's Voice Appeal.
Mayor of Tavistock Mandy Govier switched on the Christmas tree lights and thanked everyone who had donated money.
