LOCALS and friends at Tavistock's Union Inn recently celebrated 30 years since jockey Bob Champion won the 1981 Grand National on Aldaniti after recovering from cancer.

They held a charity raffle for the Bob Champion Cancer Trust.

Raffle prizes included a signed photo of Red Rum and a fully dressed out lamb from the Abel Family from Godsworthy Farm, Peter Tavy, vouchers from TJ's & LJ's Fish and Chip shop and many more.

Allen Lewis, who represents the charity in the West Country said: 'Once again the local people and businesses of Tavistock have got behind us in helping raise money for this wonderful cause.

'Our donation from the Union night goes to support racehorse trainer and ex-jockey Jim Frost as he joins Grand National legends in racing at Aintree in celebration of the 30 years since Bob won and to help the cancer trust in their incredible work.'

Allen said Jim had phoned to thank everyone who had supported the event so generously.
