A PRINCE and a Lord will be joining Okehampton motorcyclist Nicholas von Preussen as he embarks on a six-week charity ride across Russia this weekend. The former Formula 3 racing car driver, who is the grandson of German emperor Kaiser Wilhelm, together with seven other riders, will set out from Vladivostok on the ?White Nights Ride? arriving in St Petersburg 10,500 km later. It is the brainchild of Nicholas Fairfax (Lord Fairfax of Cameron) who saw the opportunity to marry his years of experience of business travel in Russia and his fondness for motorcycling with the desire to raise funds for the Russian charitable sector. The riders aim to reach a target of £1-million which will be split between Charities Aid Foundation Russia and the Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign in the UK. They will be joined on the first leg of the journey by Prince Michael of Kent, who has agreed to be patron of the campaign, and the White Nights team will include Olympic gold medallist in bobsleighing Victor Emery and Kevin Sanders, a double Guinness World Record holder. Nicholas has been a motorcyclist for more than 40 years and is a former officer in the Scots Greys Calvary Regiment. He is now a company director.
