THE coffers of Okehampton's Museum of Dartmoor Life have had a boost, thanks to the Okehampton United Charity.

The OUC has donated £10,000 to the museum to put towards the running cost of the facility for the current financial year.

The charity trustees decided to award the grant following a meeting in August and hearing about the museum's plans.?These included a young people's archaeology club and an outreach programme for people unable to visit the museum, such as reminiscence sessions for nursing home residents.

Dartmoor Museum Association chairperson Robin Brindley said: 'We are extremely grateful to the Okehampton United Charity trustees for their support for the museum's plans. This grant will allow us to start to move ahead with our exciting plans to improve how we look after the museum's collections and provide a wider range of activities and events for the whole community.'
