A WEST DEVON holiday home specialist has given a generous donation to a charity which enables disadvantaged children to go on respite breaks.
CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids) received a donation of £2,000 from Chagford-based Helpful Holidays to help towards funding children's holidays at CHICKS' moorland retreat in Brentor, and at its coastal retreat in Cornwall.
Helpful Holidays general manager, Moray Bowater, said: 'We are delighted to have been able to help CHICKS fund these vital breaks for children. Helpful Holidays generated a charitable fund when VAT was reduced last year. Rather than reducing our prices, we donated the VAT cut to our charitable fund.'
CHICKS events and corporate fundraiser, Jenny Paton, said: 'This donation will help to fund breaks for three children and we really appreciate the support of a fellow break provider. Children leave a CHICKS break with happy, positive memories and Helpful Holidays have helped us to make that possible.'
