AFTER cycling for seven hours on a stationary bike in Tavistock’s Bedford Square last week, a 69-year-old West Devon woman will be hopping in the saddle again next month for a sponsored bike ride.

Annie Jefferies will be cycling from Lamerton to Exeter Cathedral on Saturday, September 8 in support of the Devon Historic Churches Trust. In preparation for this event, Annie spent seven hours last Friday cycling on a static bike in Bedford Square, collecting £193 in the Devon Historic Churches Trust tin. This brings Annie’s fundraising total so far to £400 and there is still time for her to collect more.

Devon Historic Churches Trust is a charitable organisation that awards grants to churches that require repair or maintenance work. This organisation has given generously to Devon churches over the years, especially in rural areas. But grants cannot continue to be awarded unless there is fundraising for the charity in return.

Anyone who would like to support Annie, either by joining her for the cycle ride or to sponsor her, can do so by emailing her at [email protected]

Annie expressed thanks to local people and supportive friends who have sponsored her so far.
