CHEQUES to the total value of £5,066 were recently distributed by Tavistock Lions Club to winners, runners-up and organisations who took part in this year?s town carnival. The two major recipients this year, who both received £500, were the Tavistock Muscular Dystrophy group and the Samaritans. Accepting the cheques on behalf of the groups were Alison Carreck and Jacky Booth. Jeff Lea, president of Tavistock Lions Club, thanked everyone who had taken part in this summer?s big event and hoped they, and many more, would join in next year?s carnival, which will be held between Saturday July 12 and Saturday July 19. The theme for next year?s event will be ?Hollywood to Bollywood?.
