ELEVEN air cadets were enrolled to 2312 (Tavistock) Squadron recently by newly appointed chaplain, the Rev Stephen Martin.

The RAF cadets completed instruction in basic drill, care of uniform, the history of the ATC and rifle shooting.

Parents watched as the cadets from Tavistock district marched out to make their cadet promise.

Mr Martin performed his first enrolment since his appointment as chaplain to the squadron and presented them with their record of service book which will be a record of their achievement as an RAF Air Cadet.

Squadron CO John Olver said: ’It is very pleasing to be able to enrol so many new cadets. I hope they will make the most of their opportunities.

‘Some already hope to go flying at Easter; they will all go 0.22 rifle shooting in February and get first aid training in March. A visit to an indoor climbing wall is also on the calendar.’

Both the Tavistock and Okehampton Squadrons will be looking to recruit more cadets to start the summer training programme.
