The Inner Wheel Club of Tavistock, president Denise Bacon welcomed district chairman Beryl Gardner at its February meeting.
Beryl gave a talk on how times and perceptions had changed over the years. When Beryl first joined Inner Wheel, members had to be a wife of a Rotarian and hats and gloves were worn. Now it is more relaxed and friendship-based. Inner Wheel raises large amounts of money for both local and international charities. The president charity for this year is St Luke's Hospice.
The Inner Wheel Club of Tavistock will be holding a concert in aid of St Luke's at Tavistock Town Hall on Friday April 16 at 7.30pm with Johnny Cowling and the Canoryon Lowen Choir.
Tickets are available from Lake's Pharmacy and the Times office.
