CONDITIONS on occupancy of sheltered accommodation at the Bloggs Garage site in North Tawton have been relaxed to allow people with disabilities to live in the town centre flats.
When planning permission was given for the erection of sheltered housing at the site in February last year, an agreement was put in place restricting occupancy to those aged over 60.
But following a request from the developers, members of West Devon Borough Council?s planning committee last week agreed to amend the agreement to allow occupation of the flats by adult, disabled persons.
The developers said demand for the accommodation by persons aged 60 or over had been less than anticipated, but interest had been shown by disabled persons who did not meet the existing age criteria.
Councillors agreed with planning officers that given their central location, the flats appeared well-suited to meeting the needs of disabled people in North Tawton.
