Sandford 5
South Zeal Utd 1
IF South Zeal had taken just half of the six good chances that they created in the first half of this match they would have won this game easily.
South Zeal's Darren Gilbert and Darren Prouse caused havoc in the home defence. Instead they pushed forward in an effort to get the lead and paid the penalty as Sandford broke on them and took an unlikely 1-0 lead into the second half.
The second half was much like the first and Darren Prouse was denied by the crossbar inside the first 10 minutes the home side then went two up when the South Zeal defence failed to cope with a long punt from the Sandford keeper and allowed one of their forwards the gift of an easy goal.
The visitors continued to dominate with Redd Cann and Tom Reilly mastering midfield but the goals would not come and they went 4-1 down when they conceded a soft penalty and sucumbed to yet another long ball goal.
Darren Gilbert eventually got one back for Zeal but when a Sandford defender appeared to handle on the line the referee turned down the appeal and the home side finished the job with a header from a corner to complete what appeared to be an easy victory.
