TAVISTOCK AFC are looking to form an adult special needs football team to train alongside the present Tavistock AFC Specials.

For those who are interested in 'signing up' training nights are on Tuesdays between 5pm-6pm on the new all weather pitch at Tavistock Sports Centre.

Allen Lewis, Tavistock AFC's commercial manager, said: 'The idea is to give all the present team who can go on with their football after they reach 17 years of age.

'Already we have had alot of interest in the idea and it is again a great opportunity for our town.'

The Devon and Cornwall FAs always give their full support to promoting their Ability Counts football in the county and are right behind Tavistock AFC for going ahead with these teams.

'The great thing about forming these teams is we get to play other sides all over Devon and Cornwall, meeting up with so many children, parents, carers and trainers.

'All of our Tavvy Specials side have improved in school and in their confidence!

'The club are so pleased about the future of this idea to give everyone a chance to enjoy our beautiful game.'

The Tavvy Specials have also signed up to the RESPECT campaign which is now embraced by Tavistock AFC, Tavistock Town FC and Tavistock Thistles.

'Football is on the 'up' in Tavistock and with all the wonderful facillities the future looks very bright.'

ENTERING THE DRAGON'S DEN

Tavistock AFC Specials had their first Tournament at Bodmin Dragon Leisure Centre on Sunday.

The U12s played the Bodmin Dragons and Plymouth Argyle U12s disability squad and the Tavistock team won one and lost one!

Chris Kinty scored for the first time and Jasmine Barraman tapped the ball home from a cross by her sister Jessica Barraman.

The children and the parents enjoyed meeting up and cheering the children on in this Devon FA Ability Counts Event.

The U16s side had tough games losing all three games to Plymouth Argyle's Class side but the other two games were very close against Bodmin and Plymouth Argyle's other squad, where Jake Riddolls and Jack Gerrish scored three between them losing 4-3.

John Follett stepped in to Coach the U16s in Stewart O'Loughlin's abscence and secretary Allen Lewis worked with the U12s side.

Cathy Sharp who chairs TYCP was really proud of the children who looked so smart in their new kits.
