A NEW junior section of Yelverton Bowling Club called Yelverton Young Bowlers has been started to allow youngsters from 11 to 18 to take up the game and have lessons from qualified coaches.
The bowling club is ready for the new season which starts with the traditional open day on Saturday, April 17, at 2pm when the president will bowl the first wood.
This is followed by two new members? days on April 21 at 6pm and Saturday, April 24, at 2pm and prospective members are asked to call Ron on 01822 854407 or turn up at the green off Meavy Lane.
As well as a full fixtures list the club is running regular weekly coaching sessions aimed at beginners and experienced bowlers wanting to improve.
Joyce Neno has been appointed club captain while Joan Price captains the ladies and Maurice Hellier the men.
During winter the club has seen an immense amount of work put in to upgrade the green in readiness for the new season.
