TWO new executive officers on the Tavistock and District Chamber of Commerce were elected at the annual meeting this week.

The current chairman Nigel Eadie, membership secretary Nicola Marker, and treasurer Graham Skedgell were re-elected unopposed at the annual meeting on Monday, but two people contested the positions of vice-chair and secretary.

Members present at the meeting voted by secret ballot. Louise Jackman from TJs and LJs Fish and Chips was elected as vice-chair, replacing Graeme Sim from Eastgate Brasserie, and Terence Kelly from Whitchurch Post Office was elected as secretary, in place of Natasha Church from Bookstop.

Chairman Nigel Eadie said: 'I want to say a big thank you to everyone for their efforts last year. I feel this year is going to be big for the chamber and the town as a whole. I hope we can continue to work collaboratively with members and external partners to make it a very successful year.'

Improvements under discussion were membership numbers and inclusion of a greater variety of businesses in the chamber, including tradesman, garages and industrial estate occupants. A steering group was also set up to create a better marketing strategy.
