YELVERTON residents recently celebrated the tenth anniversary of the village's War Memorial Field.
A custom-built village hall was constructed to replace the much loved 1950 wooden hut that had faithfully served the local community for two generations.
The hall was built after the fund-raising effort by the Yelverton War Memorial Field committee raised £85,000, the remaining £33,000 was provided by West Devon Borough Council.
The field adjoining the hall is now a venue for a host of sporting activities, including football, tennis and bowls.
The hall itself is used for line dancing, karate, bingo, the art club and as home to the Pennmoor Nursery, and as a venue for many wedding parties, concerts, quizzes and children's parties.
Three times each year, the hall is used for blood donor sessions, the next one will be held on Christmas Eve.
The Yelverton hall committee recently lost one of its original members Sue Delooze, who had been a driving force behind the decision to build the hall ten years ago. She was commemorated in the renaming of the committee room as the Sue Delooze Room.
