Chagford Football Club held their presentations evening at the Fingle Bridge Inn, near Drewesteignton.

Awards for the first team were presented by Lynne Vincent, whose late husband Ken gave many years to the club. The awards included most improved player to Dale Chadwick, managers' player Steve Scott and players' player Robbie Miller.

The reserve team awards were presented by Anne Paddon, another long supporter of the club who was very instrumental in forming a reserve side. Jamie Forsey collected the players' player award, Adrian Harvey and Adam Stocks picked up the managers' player trophies and Dan Elphick accrued the cup for most man of the matches in the reserves.

Club person of the year was presented to the firsts' manager Duncan Vincent for his sterling work over the years.

l Chagford have been elected (unaminously) into the Devon and Exeter Football League. The teams have been placed in divisions one and six, placings we are happy with.

John Pearce, a spokesman for the club, said: "There were a number of reasons for our move. Many of our players, though locally born and bred, now live in the areas to the North and East of the town i.e. Crediton, Exeter, Newton St Cyres etc. Travelling to away matches in the South coast area was not always easy for them, neither is it for players travelling from Chagford.

'We would like to offer the SDFL our heartfelt thanks for the professional way it has dealt with us over the years. We also thank the South Devon clubs for some very good contests and hospitality.

'We have not taken this step lightly, indeed it has been subject to discussion within the club for two or three years.'
