MAY we, through your columns, express our sincere thanks to all who attended our golden wedding celebrations and gave so generously to our two chosen charities, Tavistock Area Support Services and the Retired Greyhound Trust. Donations to TASS amounted to £127.50 and to the Retired Greyhound Trust £150.

We consider ourselves to be most fortunate to live in such a friendly, caring community.

TASS, with their band of volunteers, provide a wide range of assistance and social events for the elderly and disabled. The Retired Greyhound Trust was founded in 1976. Since then, over 50,000 unwanted greyhounds have been found loving homes.

Retired from racing at 3 to 4-years-old, these dogs would have faced an uncertain future or no future at all. They adapt to home life amazingly quickly and do not need a lot of exercise.

The trust has branches all over the country, run by volunteers. care is taken to match dogs with prospective owners and ongoing support given. Our three greyhounds have differed in personality but all have been easy to look after and affectionate and gentle companions.

Our thanks again for all the lovely cards, flowers and messages received which made our golden wedding such a memorable and happy occasion.
