A TAVISTOCK widower set off to sea recently to give his wife the unique Viking funeral she had asked for.
Around 60 people boarded a boat to help Francis Mulcahy celebrate the life of his wife Karine Ruth Mulcahy, aged 59, at the Viking style funeral which had been her final wish.
Mr Mulcahy is a boat builder, and with the help of a few fellow builders, they created a longboat, which contained Karine's ashes.
With permission the boat was then burned at sea, just inside Plymouth breakwater.
A passenger boat was hired for mourners to witness the ceremony.
