RESIDENTS of West Devon are warmly invited to celebrate the life of their borough this Sunday (October 11) at the mayor of West Devon's civic service in Tavistock Parish Church.

The service, at 6pm in St Eustachius' Church, will be attended by the mayors of Exeter, Plymouth, Hatherleigh, Okehampton and Tavistock, the chairs of district councils across the county, the high sheriff of Devon, and many other distinguished guests.

The preacher will be the rural dean, the Rev Geoff Lloyd, whose deanery of Tavistock covers a significant part of West Devon Borough. The service will unusually feature two choirs — Tavistock Parish Church and Kelly College.

The Rev Michael Brierley, priest-in-charge at Tavistock, said: 'The service will celebrate the best things of our borough life, as well as give us something to think about — the theme will be the environment, which could not be more topical. Everyone from across the borough is very welcome to attend.'
