OKEHAMPTON Library intends to celebrate World Book Day on Thursday, March 6 in style with a series of events throughout the month of March.

On the day itself the library is hosting a craft and storytime session for children under five and their parents and carers based on The Little Red Hen storybook from 10.30am to 11.30am.

After school, older children can drop into the library to make bookmarks for all the books they can borrow from the library. Every borrower will get one free book reservation on World Book Day from titles available in Devon Libraries stock.

During library hours before March 6, children can visit the library to draw a picture of their favourite book character or book cover on a piece of bunting that will be used to decorate the library on World Book Day.

On Saturday, March 8, the library is having a mega book and DVD sale from 9am to noon, offering bargains from a range of withdrawn adult fiction, non-fiction, large print books, language courses and children's stock. Prices start at 40p each, and the Friends of Okehampton Library will be serving free tea and coffee.

Throughout the month of March people can try to 'Catch up with Claude', by finding pictures of Claude the dog hiding in shop windows around Okehampton.

Entry forms are available from the library, and entrants have the chance to win book tokens kindly donated by the Friends of Okehampton Library.

First prize receives a £25 voucher, second prize is £15 and third prize is £10. The competition is open to all ages.
