Mount House School sixth former Jamie Farrington from Tavistock, has been awarded a grant-aided specialist musician's place at Wells Cathedral School.

Jamie is a talented musician who plays the tuba and piano.

As well as being a vital component of the school orchestra, brass group and senior ensemble, he is currently head chorister. He has been awarded his music colours this term for services to the Mount House music department. 

Jamie was recently selected for both the National Children's Wind Orchestra and the National Children's Orchestra.

He will attend courses at Easter, in the summer and in December, giving concerts at prestigious venues, including the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. 

Jamie has played rugby at 2nd XV level this term and has been an important member of the school's football team. He also has a significant part in the school's senior play which comes to the stage later this term.

At his new school he will join fellow brass player Ruairidh Matthews, who left Mount House last summer and is now a music scholar at Wells Cathedral School.
