THE search is now on for a new Christian youth worker for Tavistock Community College. Catalyst, the ecumenical youth and schools project for Tavistock, started searching recently in order for it to continue the work it has been doing for several years at the college. The youth worker?s job brief, initially, is to work in the college. In the past the youth worker has worked alongside pupils who have special educational needs, supporting and acting as a learning mentor in their lessons. There may also be an opportunity to contribute more directly to RE lessons. Graham Stoate, chairman of Catalyst, said the trustees of this local charity were looking for someone who felt they had a calling for Christian youth work, and was keen to develop their own role in reaching out to young people. He said: ?This is an exciting but demanding role but the successful candidate will have support both within the college and in Catalyst.?
