HEAD gardener of Castle Drogo John Rippen will visit Okehampton Library next month to give an insight into the history of the castle.

Mr Rippen will talk about the castle's history, including how it was constructed, and how the formal garden was created on Dartmoor. With a focus on the gardens, the story of George Dillistone will be uncovered, and the restoration of the gardens will be part of the talk's focus.

Tickets cost £2 in advance to include refreshments. The talk takes place on Wednesday, July 10 at 2pm.
