WEST Devon anglers can cast off for a charity fishing challenge.

Heats and finals for this year?s fly fishing charity challenge will be held at Tavistock. A heat will also be held at Roadford Lake.

Pairs of anglers are invited to enter the 12th fly fishing challenge which raises funds for Vranch House school and centre in Exeter, which provides special equipment for children with cerebral palsy.

Last year, anglers raised a record total of more than £16,500, bringing the amount raised since 1992 to more than £105,000, with Tavistock fishery having raised a remarkable £31,703 of that total.

Heats and semi-finals take place across Devon and Cornwall between March and September. The Tavistock heat is on Sunday, August 31.

A date for the Roadford Lake heat is yet to be finalised.

There are prizes available to the value of £4,000 this year, £1,000 more than last year

. Prizes include lines, hooks, day tickets and garden statues.
