YOUNGSTERS in Okehampton interested in music will benefit from a grant from Okehampton Rotary Club.

The club has donated £500 to Wren Music to help support their youth work in the town, teaching children and young people how to play instruments and build their enthusiasm for music.

Mr Westman chose the charity as his president's charity for his year in office, and the money donated was raised through the club's annual charity golf day, and other fundraisers throughout the year.

He said: 'I felt Wren Music was an organisation worthy of our support, and am very happy to be making this donation on behalf of Okehampton Rotary.'

Marilyn Tucker, artisitic director for Wren Music, said: 'Donations like this mean a great deal to Wren Music. It is nice to have the support of Okehampton Rotary.'

Among the projects planned includes the involvement of Okehampton Primary School with the Baring-Gould Folk weekend, the annual three-day music event drawing talented musicians to Okehampton.

This year's event takes place from Friday, October 26 to Sunday, October 28.
