TAVISTOCK’S new Tesco store has donated £5,000 to help fund the town’s Christmas lights.

The lights will be switched on at 6pm tomorrow (Friday) as part of Dickensian Evening.

Lisa Piper, Tavistock BID Manager, said: ‘We are very appreciative of the donation from Tesco which has added to our Christmas funding this year. 

‘Switching on the lights as part of our Dickensian Evening has become a tradition which starts the Christmas festivities in our town.’

Store Manager Tris Somerville added: ‘We are delighted to be a key partner for the Tavistock Christmas lights. The ceremony is great for the local community and provides an opportunity for us to come together in preparation for the season of goodwill.’

The Tesco store, which was launched earlier this year, has taken an active role in the community since opening and will continue its commitment to its community throughout the New Year.
