Efford U14s 0

Tavistock Town Girls U14s 2

AFTER two games where Tavistock have shown their worst and best qualities they played their best football of the season.

Two weeks ago they drew 1-1 with Looe and the best player on the pitch for Tavistock was the Looe player who scored an own goal! Last week Tavistock went away to Phoenix and deservedly won 4-0 with Megan Case scoring a hat-trick and first time striker Grace Oliver bagging the other goal.

Saturday saw the meeting of the top two teams in the league and Tavistock came up well on top with a 2-0 win away from home.

The game started with Tavistock off the pace, but after ten minutes they put the effort in and for the rest of the game they were seldom under pressure.

Fiona McCall in goal was assured in all situations, Amy Bassett again proved to be a great defender and Zoe Metters came back from injury to play a vital role in ensuring the home team did not get through.

In midfield Jolene Piper was assured in defence and inventive in attack. Shannon Ashworth, player of the match, realised her true potential and Livvy Hodge worked extremely well.

Up front Megan Case played a sound game, giving Tavistock the lead in the first half and setting up Catherine Jones for her first goal for the club in the second half.

Grace Oliver and Lucy Gosling came on from the substitutes' bench and played their part in a good win against the team who will be fighting for the title at the end of the season.
