ON behalf of the Lions Club of Tavistock, I would like to thank everyone who supported us during carnival week.

We do try and provide a wide choice of events during the week, and this year the choice of the Rame Head Peninsula Male Voice Choir for the concert in the Parish Church was very well received. Hopefully, we will have them back to entertain Tavistock again.

A special thank you to all those who took part in the carnival procession. The quality of the floats was exceptional, and it was a joy to see all the children and parents enjoying themselves.

The result of the carnival procession collection was £2,035, which has helped us to raise a total of around £4,500 for the week. This is down to the generosity of the people of Tavistock and the surrounding area and also our sponsors, and we thank you for your donations and support.

We as a club had fun during carnival week, and we do hope that you the people of Tavistock enjoyed it as well.

All profits from this year's carnival will find its way back in to the community on various projects, appeals and good causes.

We hope that you will continue your support at the next event over the August Bank Holiday weekend, when the Lions Club, along with the Round Table, hold the replacement event for the West Country Balloon Fiesta and Day at the Races in the grounds of Tavistock College.

Both clubs look forward to your support at this event, when the Day at the Races will be held, along with a football tournament, tug of war championship and ending with a firework display.

Once again, a big thank you to all who took part in carnival week and made it a success.
