MORETONHAMPSTEAD Carnival Week is approaching — and this year's event will kick off with a new weekend-long country fayre.

Moretonhampstead Country Fayre on August 17 and 18 will be opened by author, television presenter, former MP and Strictly Come Dancing contestant Ann Widdecombe. The fayre will include a large craft and country market alongside vintage vehicle displays, rural craft workshops and demonstrations, archery demonstrations and have a go sessions, Dartmoor llama walks, morris dancing, a dog agility display, a ten kilometre run, and arena events including falconry displays, ferret racing and much more.

On August 17 and 21 the Sentry will host a party in the park events, with live music. With Nell and I have been confirmed for the Saturday night.

August 22 will see the traditional Moretonhampstead Carnival day, with charity stalls in the square, a traditional furry dance, children's entertainment and games. The grand carnival procession starts at 6.30pm. There will be live music until late. Events are free though donations of £2 per adult are encouraged to help local causes.
