CHAGFORD will be awash with colour and sound on Saturday, August 30 for the town's carnival. The highlight of the carnival will be the traditional carnival parade, where people don a myriad of costumes and colours to march through the town centre. Visitors can also look forward to a steady stream of entertainment throughout the day with local jazz and rock music, traditional Morris dancing and professional dance troupes all performing in the Square. There is also plenty of fun on offer for youngsters with face painting, bouncy castles and children's entertainment during the morning of the carnival. The day also promises to be an ideal opportunity to sample a taste of Chagford, as local independent restaurants, pubs and shops serve up tasty treats for visitors. Neil Tappenden from Visit Chagford, the town's destination marketing organisation said: 'The carnival is a great opportunity to sample Chagford's charm and history and is always one of the most popular events in the town's calendar. 'It is a great day out for families with things to do for all ages, as well as some fantastic food on offer from our independent eateries.' Festivities run from 10.30am to 8.30pm with the parade set to take place at 6.30pm.
