THE Eddie Calvert Experience comes to Okehampton this Saturday as young local musician Carl Woodison performs a tribute to his musical hero. The sound of Eddie Calvert did not die when the maestro himself did, and remains very much alive today with the sound that 13-year-old Carl?s trumpet creates. The concert, which features Carl and his father, Trevor Woodison, on piano, will include a range of easy-listening jazz, plus some Beatles classics. Carl, who plays with Torrington Silver Band and the Roots band at Okehampton College, ultimately aims to become a professional musician. He is hoping the concert will raise plenty of much needed funds towards the college Big Band trip to Hong Kong, which is due to take place in October. The concert takes place at the Octagon Theatre, Okehampton College this Saturday, May 21, at 7.30pm. £5 entry on the door.
