A CAR was severely damaged by fire following an incident on Monday night. The car was leaving the Whiddon Down road heading towards North Tawton when it caught fire. Firecrews from Okehampton and Chagford were called out to the car fire and used two sets of breathing apparatus and two hosereels to put the blaze out. The road was blocked for around 15 to 20 minutes while the fire was tackled.
