TAVISTOCK Car Club will be holding an information event in the town tomorrow (Friday).

The club has been up and running since December and is operated by e-cocars.com

A spokesperson for the club said: 'A car club is a great way to have access to a car when you need it without having the cost and hassle of ownership.

'There's a monthly membership fee of £5 which is not charged if you use the car during the month, then £3.95 per hour and 15p per mile when you use it.

'Compared to the cost of owning your own this is very good value. It saves the hassle and cost of your own car ownership if you're just an occasional user or need a second car from time to time.

'You can even use the car over the weekend at a special rate of £20 per day plus mileage charge.

The spokesperson said joining the car club was simple. Once signed up, members are sent a smart card which will provide access to the car.

There is also a special offer for anyone signing up in May when the £25 membership fee will be waived.

The E-cocars website is optimised for smartphones — members can also have access to two cars in Plymouth and two in Totnes.

The car is currently parked in the Guildhall car park, but the club is looking for an alternative.
