THE trial £2 all day parking in long term car parks in Tavistock is a good idea to encourage visitors to stay and spend money in the town, but what about we locals? Wanting to stay longer than the time allowed in the Guildhall car park, the formerly short stay Abbey car park was a good bet for town shopping. It is now being used for all day parking. It is almost impossible to find a space during the day; having checked the times of machine issued tickets I notice that the majority have been issued between 06.30 and 08.45. Perhaps at the end of the trial period of this scheme, Abbey car park can be returned to short stay parking, or at least prevent all day tickets becoming valid till after, say 10.30.
