South Zeal United 3

Crediton 2

CREDITON came to Zeal with a poor record for the early part of the season but performed well and made them work hard for the three points.

Crediton started well and soon took the lead when their dangerous right-sided attacker hit in a good low cross, the resulting shot beating Zeal keeper Neil Clift at his left-hand post.

Zeal equalised within ten minutes when Harley Cann and Tom Reilly combined well with the latter finishing from the edge of the Crediton penalty area.

Zeal took the lead when a throw-in from Lee Gilbert was headed home by Harley Cann. It looked as if Zeal would win easily but with ten minutes of the first half left Crediton equalised with a well worked goal.

Just when it looked as if the teams would end the first half 2-2 Cann scored Zeal?s third from a shot on the turn after some severe pressure.

Zeal missed five or six good chances in the second half and almost threw the points away on several occasions but Clift made some good saves and ensured all three points stayed with his side.

This week away to Honiton, kick-off 2.30pm.
