Tavistock Musical Theatre Company is desperately seeking a pianist to join the group after losing resident pianist Jane Burgess, who retired after more than 50 years of service.

The company is appealing to Times readers who may be interested in joining the friendly group, to come forward to audition for the role of resident pianist.

Formed in 1955, Tavistock Musical Theatre Company has evolved in 55 years, and now consists of 45 members of mixed ages and abilities.

Peter Clement from the theatre company, said: 'Having lost our pianist Jane Burgess after 50 years, we have had difficulty replacing her.

'We are looking for someone to come along and have some fun with us. The company is a friendly group of all ages, who carry out a main show at the Wharf every year.'

As well as the main show, the company performs several concerts throughout the year. This year's main show will be Hello Dolly.

In addition to a pianist, the group is also looking for someone to take on the challenging role of musical director.

Anyone who is interested in these positions should contact Peter Clement for an informal chat on 01822 860361 or 07779950007.
