A FAMILY from Whitchurch is appealing to local residents to get in touch, after witnessing a strange orange object moving slowly in the sky last Thursday evening.

The family of three were driving home when they saw the glowing object near The Pimple on Whitchurch Down, around 50ft to 100ft high in the sky.

All three passengers in the car said they saw the object at around 8.30pm.

One of the passengers said: 'I can understand that this may sound bizarre but all three of us saw it.

'We saw it over by the St David's side of the Pimple and then it came over to the centre of Tavistock.

'From a distance it looked like a star although five times as big but whatever it was it had a flat top.

'It was moving slowly to start with as it came over the Pimple and then it picked up speed.

'I can't understand what it was we saw and why there was a difference in speed and why it had a flat top?

'We would like anyone else who saw this to get in contact if possible?'

Anyone who can shed some light on the sighting is asked to write to: Lindsay Bright, Tavistock Times, 14 Brook Street, Tavistock, PL19 0HE.
