A PAINTING which hung on a wall in Tavistock Social Services more than 20 years ago has disappeared without a trace. It featured a Victorian high chair with a black-and-white cat on top and a kitten, painted by Gerry Bushell before he died 24 years ago. Anna Kelly of Tavistock was married to Gerry and said he attended a day care centre, held in the Social Services Building on Abbey Rise before it moved to Harwood House. The centre was held to encourage and enable disabled people to take part in activities including crafts and painting. Mrs Kelly said: ?Time has gone by, and we would really like to get it back. The cat in the picture used to belong to my daughter, so it has real sentimental value.? After her husband died Mrs Kelly searched a while for the painting. She was prompted again to search after she saw a recent news piece in a local paper about a pub being re-united with a painting they had not seen for 45 years. If anyone can help Mrs Kelly with her search contact her on 01822 614203. l Pictured left is the Victorian highchair featured in the lost painting.
