A border collie missing since March 19 has been spotted in and around Tavistock, although originally going missing from near Mary Tavy. Baz (pictured right), who is chestnut and white, was walking on his lead during a visit to Dartmoor when he was startled and ran away. Owners Gill and Rob Clarke have travelled from their home in Farnborough in Hampshire almost every weekend in the hope of catching him, but say the strain is beginning to tell. Devon area co-ordinator of Petsearch UK, Sheila McGahey, said she had never come across anyone who deserved help more. ?It was not their fault he ran away,? she said. Coming from a rescue home, the collie has only recently come to trust humans again and is very nervous. Sheila said that after originally being spotted in places as far apart as Two Bridges and Horrabridge, Baz had apparently settled in the Tavistock area for the last couple of months, where he is regularly visiting one garden in particular. ?We have put out a crate baited with food and the owners have put down used tee shirts and socks, but we really need a proper trap,? she said. Another alternative was to find a vet willing to dart him with a tranquiliser dart. Baz is still wearing a black nylon webbing collar. Any sightings can be reported to Devon Petsearch UK on 01271 879221. Anyone who can offer a trap is also asked to ring that number.
