EVERY day I cycle through the Meadows in order to get to work, and over the weeks I have been watching the progress of the excavations and construction associated with the underpass linking the Meadows to the school.
It was while cycling recently that a thought occurred to me: there is a large amount of heavy plant situated at the construction site, and also as a byproduct of construction there is a large amount of soil and hard core that has been removed from the construction site.
It occurred to me that it was an ideal situation for a new cycle/skate park to be constructed and incorporated into the area.
As construction of the underpass is underway, I feel that the disruption caused by incorporating the skate park would be at a minimum.
I would like to ask the county council if this might be feasible and also to ask the residents of Tavistock their view. As an afterthought maybe the contractors might lend their equipment, time and experience free of charge to what would be a worthy cause. In doing so skaters could practice their sport in safety and motorists and pedestrians would have one less obstacle to face on our busy streets.
