A TAVISTOCK group which campaigns to help people with mobility, physical or sensory problems is to hold its annual meeting next week.

Tavistock and District Access Group was formed in September 1990 and provides a forum for those with disabilities to work with others to improve accessibility within the town.

Chairman Paul Slater-Lindsay said: 'We are very aware now of the increased number of individuals who have their buggies to get out of the house, but the outside environment is not always disabled-friendly.

'This applies to those with sticks, crutches, visual or hearing problems, those who are mentally disabled and also includes parents with young children in prams and push chairs.'

The access group has now published three detailed guides to accessibility in town centre shops and businesses and will hold its annual meeting on Monday October 13 at 6.30pm at Abbey Rise. Speaker will be Marjorie Corner, who will give a talk on life as a disabled mayor and councillor. All are welcome to attend.
