Carlsberg South Western League division one west Callington Town 2 Camelford 2 CALLINGTON again showed their recent improvement as they dug themselves out of a big hole to grab a deserved point against high flying Camelford at Ginsters Marshfield Parc on Saturday.  With the pitch having just taken a second team game earlier in the day, the surface was tricky after the rain of the day, and so playing cultured football was always going to difficult. With 85 minutes gone, the visitors had this game won, leading 2-0 and were in confident mood.  Their confidence started as early as the 11th minute when they took the lead.  Dan Balsdon was first to react to a great free kick from the right and he beat Adam Fuller to the floating ball to head past the Callington keeper. Callington responded with a 20 yard shot just wide from Dan Moore ten minutes later, but generally it was Camelford in control.  They increased their lead on 58 minutes from another set piece when Gyles Reynolds headed in.  Town's fightback started five minutes from time.  The hard working Dan Pethick fired the ball in from the right and Mike Norman's shot took a slight deflection which was enough to beat Jordan Hicks in the Camel's goal.  Then, with 90 minutes gone, Matt Sleep floated a corner on the right to the near post and Dan Moore met the ball with a deft header that found the back of the net, to the delight of his team mates and the Town fans.

East Cornwall League division one  Callington Town 1 Tavistock 0 THE young guns of Callington produced a memorable performance to beat championship chasing Tavistock at a wet and soggy Ginsters Marshfield Parc on Saturday to move back into the pack of mid table teams as the season draws to a close. They battled from first minute to last and were worthy winners against an out of sorts Devon side.  The deciding goal came mid way through the second half when a cross from the right found striker Kevin Blatchford and the 24 year old stabbed the ball home to the delight of the large crowd. Town should have been two up shortly afterwards when Lee Thirkettle's curling shot appeared to be well over the line before the Tavistock goal keeper palmed it out.  The referee, being not in the position of making the call, looked to the linesman but his flag stayed down and the goal was not given. However, despite their best efforts, Tavistock were unable to take advantage of this piece of good fortune and the final whistle brought many celebrations from the home team and fans.
