THE streets of Callington were filled with an abundance of colour for the town’s annual Mayfest celebrations on Saturday.

The celebrations saw dancers, singers and other performers coming together to create an exciting day’s event.

The day kicked off with a colourful parade, several Morris dancing sides performed during the day as well as maypole dancing by school pupils, and entertainment from the magnificent Mayfesters, Kescana, Canticorum, the Tamar Valley Male Voice Choir and the Callington samba band Bocco Callo took place throughout the day.

The event also saw performances from dancers and musicians from Landerneau in Brittany and the popular giants from last year were welcomed back along with new ones that had been designed and crafted by local groups and individuals.

Events in the streets and town hall were complemented by activities in the town’s public houses.
