Cornwall Women's division two
Camelford LFC 0
Callington 7
CALLINGTON continued their excellent run of form with another comfortable league victory.
The visitors got off to a perfect start when only five minutes in Jodie Shipton drove a powerful shot into the bottom corner following a Sarah Martin through ball. The scoreline then remained locked for 35 minutes due to a drop in Callington's tempo and some excellent work rate from the home side.
The second goal was unfortunate for the battling Camelford side. A powerful corner by mid fielder Katy Sheffield was headed into the back of the net by their own defender just before half time. Camelford rallied well and began to apply some pressure, but a couple of good saves from Callington keeper Sara Rowe left the half time score at 2-0.
Callington came out for the second half with an improved impetus and began to step up the pressure on the home side's goal.
In the 55th minute Callington striker Kate Lewis drove a half volley into the roof of the net following a Sam Veale cross for number three. Their fourth came when Sheffield provided a pin point set piece for Jodie Shipton, who calmly brought the ball down with her left foot and smashed it hard and low beyond the keeper with her right.
New signing Dawn Moore was next after controlling the ball well in the six yard box, then spinning and hitting a low effort beyond the keeper. Centre back Marie Wilson scored number six with a long range effort bounced over the out bound keepers head and into the net. Lewis rounded off the win and maintained her position as the team's current leading goal scorer, by smashing in a close range effort from a Sarah Martin cross.
